The Modern News Building
About Us
The Modern News Building is a new, intimate event venue that caters to a range of event needs from baby showers, to small weddings. With an indoor space that can accommodate up to 60 guests, and an additional outdoor space that can be used for extra accommodation, we hope to be able to cater to all of your needs. In our newly renovated space, is a vintage-inspired banquet hall clad with checkered floors, and exposed brick. In the rear of the building is a serving area fit with countertops, sink, and refrigerator to be used with catering. This space has access to the outdoor grassy area, that features 3 terraced lawns, private from the road. We have hosted a range of events including: showers, weddings, receptions, meetings, classes, reunions, birthdays, and more!
Newspaper to Venue
It is hard to believe that after 130 years of producing newspapers for Poinsett County, the building has an entirely new purpose! We have had overwhelming support from our local community, having booked events from Jonesboro, Wynne, Trumann, Memphis etc.
Vision
I have always had a heart for Harrisburg, and its community. Having grown up here my entire life, it has been a personal project of mine to reflect highly of the community and pour in, exactly what I want to get out of it. It has been a goal since the beginning, to bring new life to downtown, and offer something more for the people of the community. Art classes, camps, and exhibitions are part of the way I am trying to work towards these goals. In the future there will be many more projects geared at creating culture in our community.
